Paral·lel metro station
Line 2, Line 3 and Montjuïc Funicular · Zone 1 · Sants-Montjuïc
Paral·lel station
Paral·lel is the terminus of Line 2 and the Montjuïc Funicular and a through station on Line 3.
Three services from different eras meet beneath Avinguda del Paral·lel. The oldest is the Montjuïc Funicular, which has run from here since 24 October 1928. The platforms of today’s Line 3 opened on 16 June 1970 on what was then Line III, under the name Pueblo Seco, after the neighbourhood. In 1975 it became the point where you had to change trains between Line III and Line IIIB, which had different power-supply systems. In 1982 the two were merged as Line 3 and the station was renamed Paral·lel.
Line 2 arrived on 30 December 1995, and Paral·lel is its terminus, just as it is for the funicular. The change between L2 and L3 is very short: TMB data allow 15 seconds for it; to the funicular, 60 seconds. TMB classes all three lines as accessible.
