Legal notice

Two operators, one API key and the licences that require us to credit them.

Who publishes barcelonametro.org

The site belongs to David Franco Aguirre, who publishes under the GoRandom name from Avenida Lehendakari Aguirre, 81 — 48015 Bilbao (Bizkaia), Spain. All correspondence, legal notices included, should be sent to [email protected], a mailbox read by the same person who builds the pages.

Independence from TMB, FGC and the ATM

Nothing here is official. Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona, Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya and the Autoritat del Transport Metropolità have no part in this publication: they do not commission it, fund it or review it before it goes out, and they are not answerable for anything it says. Our dealings with all three go no further than reading what they publish. Wherever a figure on this site differs from the one on tmb.cat, fgc.cat or atm.cat, theirs is correct and ours is the one that needs fixing.

Trade marks and station names

TMB, FGC, ATM, T-mobilitat and the names of the tickets and travel cards are marks belonging to their owners, as are the numbers and colours that tell the lines apart. They appear on these pages for the sole purpose that trade-mark law allows and the subject makes unavoidable: identifying the service being discussed. No operator logo forms part of this site’s design.

One point specific to Barcelona, because it affects the names you will read: in 2022 the ATM approved new names for six stations — El Clot, Bellvitge Rambla Marina, La Rambla | Drassanes, Vall d’Hebron | Sant Genís, Llucmajor | República and Congrés | Indians — which TMB has not yet adopted in either its API or its GTFS. This site follows the operator’s spelling, which is what you will see on the platform, and records the name approved by the ATM as an alternative.

Licences for the data and the map

Barcelona is the only network in this family of guides whose data are read through an API that requires a credential: the key to TMB’s Transit API is registered to this domain, is read at the moment the pages are generated and never travels to anyone’s browser. The API’s terms of use call for a specific attribution, which reads as follows: Source: TMB (Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona), data updated on 19 October 2026; FGC open data.

Three further sources sit alongside that API, each on its own terms. Timetables come from two separate GTFS feeds, TMB’s and FGC’s, whose calendars do not line up: TMB’s reaches 10 June 2027, while FGC’s ends on 31 December 2026. Everything around each station is © OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the ODbL licence. Historical background comes from the Spanish and Catalan Wikipedias, licensed under CC BY-SA 4.0, and never prevails over the operator’s data. The schematic map is «Mapa metro Barcelona actual» by ItsAstrid (Wikimedia Commons), licensed CC BY-SA 4.0; the frame and logo added by barcelonametro.org are shared under the same licence. It is not the official map of TMB, FGC or the ATM.

The full inventory, by type of data:

  • Network and stations (names, order of stops, interchanges, termini, entrances, coordinates and opening dates): TMB’s Transit API for its metro lines (eight by TMB’s own count, ten if the Nord and Sud sections of L9 and L10 are listed separately) and the Montjuïc Funicular; FGC open data for L6, L7, L8 and L12.
  • Timetables and journey times between stations: the two GTFS feeds mentioned above, read over a reference week free of public holidays so that no day type has to be invented.
  • Fares and tickets: the ATM’s sheet for each ticket, its fares leaflet and its fare-zone map, plus TMB’s pages for its own tickets and zone 1. Each price is checked against the stored official text: if it changes, the generator halts instead of leaving an out-of-date figure behind.
  • T-mobilitat: atm.cat, the t-mobilitat.cat portal and TMB’s pages.
  • Accessibility: TMB, by station and by entrance, plus FGC’s data set of step-free routes. A station with no step-free route whatsoever is shown as not accessible.
  • Nearby places: OpenStreetMap, within 400 metres. Walking minutes are our own estimate based on straight-line distance, and the card states as much.
  • Network map: Wikimedia Commons, with the author and licence given above. It is not the official map of TMB, FGC or the ATM, none of which is under a free licence.

How far accuracy goes

Because the pages are regenerated from stored data and never edited by hand, a figure cannot quietly age while the paragraph around it stays untouched. What the method cannot cure is a source that is itself wrong, a capture that begins to date on the day it is made, or works announced after publication. None of this is live information: no source is connected, and the times shown are those the operators have scheduled. There are also restrictions that the map does not show but the station pages do, such as the passage between L1 and L5 at Plaça de Sants, closed until 27 March 2027, or the passages between platforms at Catalunya, closed until 30 December 2026. Check tmb.cat and fgc.cat before you travel. No liability is accepted for a dead link, for a fare that differs from the one shown or for decisions made on the strength of these pages.

Rights in what is ours

The wording of the texts, the page design, the generated diagrams and the code belong to us. Everything else belongs to whoever published it and is used under the licences listed above, including the share-alike requirement wherever the source is CC BY-SA.
