Cookie policy

Six cookies, and a column that tells you which ones you can refuse.

Why this page exists

There is a rule behind it, and it deserves to be cited: Article 22.2 of Law 34/2002 on Information Society Services forbids storing anything on a visitor’s device that is not needed to serve them the page without first informing them and obtaining their permission. What gets stored is cookies — small name-and-value pairs that the browser files away at a domain’s request and attaches to later requests to that same domain. The inventory of the ones barcelonametro.org may set is below, with a column devoted to the only question that really matters: which of them will take no for an answer.

Two things this site does not do, and they are the ones that usually make these notices complicated: it embeds no third-party videos or maps on any of its pages, and it does not, of its own accord, share anyone’s identifier across domains. What you see in the table is all there is.

Cookies this site may set

The list is complete. Behind the design there are no embedded players, social-media buttons or tracking pixels quietly adding more.

Withdrawing consent

Down in the footer there is a link labelled “Privacy and cookie settings”. Clicking it brings the preferences panel back up wherever you are on the site, and lets you undo, in two moves, a yes you gave half a year ago. The change applies from the moment you make it: any _ga cookies already stored are deleted there and then, and none of the cookies in the last two categories is written again. What does not change is the content, because no page of this guide is held back for those who say yes. As an interpretative reference for all of this, we have followed the guidance on the use of cookies published by the Spanish data protection authority.

Browser settings

Quite apart from this panel, your browser has the final say: all of them let you block or wipe what a given domain has stored, and that setting overrides any preference recorded here. One side effect is worth knowing in advance, because it is puzzling when it happens: with the two cookies in the first row blocked, a message sent through the contact form may be classed as automated and never arrive. Timetables, the fare finder and the station pages read without any trouble.
