Sants Estació metro station
Line 3 and Line 5 · Zone 1 · Sants-Montjuïc
Sants Estació station
- L3 (from 8 October 2026 until 29 October 2026): Until about 29 October, the escalator down from the main ticket hall to the lower ticket hall at Sants Estació is out of service for maintenance work.
The metro reached Sants long after the railway, and it did so in two stages. First, on 29 November 1969, the Line 5 station opened, the one closest to the railway station; then, on 19 January 1975, came the Line 3 station, a little further away. Both originally had names that included Roma, and in 1982, when the network’s station names were reorganised, they were unified as Sants Estació.
It lies beneath Barcelona-Sants, the city’s main railway station, where most Rodalies commuter, regional and long-distance trains running through Catalonia stop. You can go down to the metro from the railway concourse itself, via the exits on Plaça dels Països Catalans and Plaça de Joan Peiró, or from the street, on Numància, Dolors Batlle i Sunyer and Avinguda de Josep Tarradellas. Changes between L3 and L5 are made inside the station.
