La Sagrera metro station

La Sagrera station
La Sagrera is the terminus of Line 9 Nord and Line 10 Nord and a through station on Line 1 and Line 5.
The station opened in January 1954 as Sagrera, the northern terminus of what was then Line I, with two side platforms and a central one. On 15 May that year the line was extended to Fabra i PuigES, and today’s Line 5 arrived in July 1959. In June 2004 the Generalitat (Catalan government) awarded the rebuilding and enlargement of the station to the public company GISA, at a cost of €87.1 million: in 2005 it was the busiest station on the network, with 50 000 passengers a day. The works replaced the side platforms of L1 and L5 with a single island platform and added escalators and lifts. In September 2009 the ATM renamed it La Sagrera, after the neighbourhood.
In June 2010 L9 Nord and L10 Nord arrived from Bon Pastor. The station opened for them is actually the future terminus of Line 4: the permanent L9/L10 station was set aside for the works on the central section. The Rodalies (commuter rail) station opened on 20 February 2011, and on 19 June 2013 a fifth entrance was added at Carrer d’Hondures and Passatge de Coello, which also serves as an underpass beneath the Meridiana. TMB classes all four lines here as accessible.
